Anyone interested in taking a cruise has often heard the question asks that pertains to the issue of underage drinking and underage gambling. Similar to something like Spring Break in Daytona Beach, cruises have gotten quite a rap as a haven for anyone looking to drink underage or to participate in underage gambling. Of course, cruise employees are instructed in the same way that other agents selling alcohol are instructed; somehow, more underage activity still slips through the cracks.
Why Cruises? It seems that despite gambling laws against underage participation, a lot of young people who are one cruises participate in a lot of activities that they are not of age to participate in. Of course, it takes more than the young people to break the rules. In order for someone to drink underage, someone must purchase the alcohol for them or sell them the alcohol directly even though they are underage. The same holds for gambling although the setup of cruise ships makes it so that there is less chance to control what is happening with underage gambling. Underage gambling statistics show that more and more people are interested in gambling even though they are not old enough to do it legally. This shows an increased interest in the activity which has not been explained up until this point by any research. In order to find ways to prevent underage gambling, the reason behind this increase in interest will have to be investigated. All kinds of cooperation is needed if underage gambling research can come together to find out why young people are more and more interested in gambling. Is It Necessary? Some people do not agree that gambling underage is such a big deal. Many people do not understand why is underage gambling bad and they believe that there are much better ways to spend the money that would be spent on investigating why young people want to gamble so much. However, the results of underage gambling are what makes so many people interested in finding a solution. The risks of underage gambling are very important when you think about young people as future citizens. Someone who is hooked on gambling before they are even allowed to vote is in severe risk of staying hooked on gambling for the rest of their life. While some people are most interested in starting a strict underage gambling penalty to deter young people from gambling, psychologists argue that in order to stop underage gambling, the reasons for wanting to gamble first have to be better understood. |
